Historical Background

As part of the state's general objectives, there stemmed the idea of establishing Karary Academy of Technology as a high scientific and military institution that is concerned with the preparation of engineering and technological frames to satisfy the requirements of the armed forces and military industries and to guide the relevant scientific research.

In 1994 a republican decree was issued to establish the Academy and in 1996 its law was approved by the National Assembly.

Under the law, the academy is sponsored by the president of the republic.

Under this law, the academy is administratively associated with the ministry of national defense and academically with the ministry of higher education and scientific research.

The academy is supervised by a board appointed by the sponsor and is considered the highest executive authority under the law.
